Artist's Comments

This was on a film shoot and I had my still camera with me also. I just liked the way I framed the picture and how she looks so crisp.

Beautiful! The white on the ground brings your attention right to the girl. I like how she's not looking straight. It's an overall great shot. Keep up the good work! ^^ :+fav:

i love it too. i love some of the things you do, like the framing and the crispness...but i also really love her shadow. you can hide things close to the girl by the way you frame a photo, but you cannot hide their shadows, so her lone shadow seems to enforce the feeling of her being alone and desolate. also, i love the white on the ground. near its left-most point, it seems smeared and wind-blasted, which also seems to lend itself to the feeling of her being in a desert and alone...great job, it all seems to come together and work great. love it

All right, thoughtful and critical now. ^^;

This strikes me even in the thumbnail. It's a very beautiful moment that you have captured and you're right, I think a lot of it's success has to do with the composition. Because the background is out of focus and because we can understand the ground plane due to the white on the ground it really helps the viewer to realize the space she is in. The line of her vision is followed in the line of the logs behind her, the shadow at its skewed angle breaks the horizontals and its line is continued by the white in the lower right.

You have a great eye. I think if anything you should explore more worth that deals with the element of space that you seem to have captured here. The emotional content is icing.

This is an incredible picture. It frusteraits me that it has so little views. I hate the deviantart popularity game. Anyway, I love how she is looking at someone out of the frame, and her relaxed position.
